Based on Marcelo Rubens Paiva’s biographical memoir, this absorbing film outlines the experience of the Paiva family during the early 1970s, when Brazil was in the ever-tightening grip of a military dictatorship.

Living a comfortable and contented life together, the family is unexpectedly upended when the father is taken in for questioning, leaving wife and mother Eunice to support their five children and pursue answers.

This true story helped to reconstruct and reveal an important part of Brazil’s hidden past.

I’m Still Here won the 2025 Oscar for Best International Feature Film.

Fernanda Torres, (Eunice), was an Oscar nominee for Best Actor in a leading Role. The film to date has won 53 awards and 77 nominations.
